The Flaming Lips

If there is a band that encapsulates the spirit of all things Bestival more than any other, then that band has to be The Flaming Lips.

Champions of the Psychedelic Alt-Rock scene, they first came to prominence in 1999 with the stunning album “The Soft Bulletin”, a collection of melodically catchy, lyrically quirky and beautifully orchestrated tracks that caught the imagination of the music loving world.

Since then release after release has seen transcend genre and cement themselves as one of the world’s most exciting creative forces and 2013 sees them return with their new album “The Terror” already tipped to be one of the albums of the year.

For all their recorded wonderment though, it’s as a live act that The Flaming Lips really come into their own, producing a legendary live show involving UFO’s, Giant Hands, a stage full of animal suited lunacy and in Wayne Coyne one of the most enigmatic front men around today.

It’s no surprise then that Rob Da Bank secured their services to headline the very first Camp Bestival in 2008, leading to the unforgettable sight of Mr Coyne descending from a castle in a giant inflatable ball and floating onto the stage atop of sea of smiling faces before blowing the main stage at Bestival away when they joined us here in 2010.

Their set that night was nothing short of incredible leaving everyone begging for more which is why we’ve got them back, to show us just how mind blowing the full on Flaming Lips live experience really is.
