If, as the great Fela Kuti once said, ‘music is the weapon’, then you’ll need to wear armour to withstand the full sonic force of London Afrobeat Collective (LAC) – this politicised party machine are an animated live act who channel the spirit of the Afrobeat founder to produce bass-heavy rhythms guaranteed to make you move.
Their debut album ‘LAC’ gained them much love from high places but it’s in the live arena where they’ve attracted the most admirers. Glastonbury’s Michael Eavis is such a fan he personally invited the band to perform at his festival while jaw dropping shows at Secret Garden Party, Shambala and Green Man have spread the word even further. With a new album in the can and more modern influences rising to the fore, the rise of LAC looks unstoppable.
