As a founder member and lead Guitarists in seminal band The Smiths Johnny Marr played no small part in influencing the birth of modern indie and the sound of modern guitar music.
As well as his extensive career with The Smiths, Electronic and as a solo artist Johnny has also played with Modest Mouse and The Cribs and we’re sure it’s no coincidence that both bands produced their best work when he was part of their set ups.
Johnny Marr is arguably the greatest guitarist that this country has ever produced and his songwriting skills are undeniable but he’s as much a cultural icon as he is a musical genius, epitomising everything that is great and good about his hometown of Manchester and the north he’s the kind of effortlessly cool customer that only that city can produce and he retains the kind of swagger that only a man who has been bestowed with greatest can pull off.
From the begin of the eighties one man has created, redefined and kept guitar music vital and that man is Johnny Marr.
